23 Nov 2019, Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) Kampala Campus students attended the Academia Public-Private-Partnership forum, exhibition and conference where they were elected among the best participants.
The forum of 2019 was under the theme Science, Technology and Invasion (STI) as a Catalyst towards Achieving of E.A commune vision 2050.
IUIU was represented by Motion Analysis Research Laboratory (MARL) including Nambobi Mutwalibi, Matsiko Innocent, Kamoga Ibrahim among others.
They exhibited so many things which included the following, Autonomous floor cleaner which is a robot that is able to sense water spills on the floor and autonomously dry the spot. Additionally, it can be remote controlled to do the mopping, work that would have required a human agent. This invention will reduce on the common falls and slips in the public shared spaces or even efficiency in the way commercial buildings are managed.
Autonomous pothole mapping agent this is technology that can be mounted on the vehicle to allow automatic capturing of potholes along its path which is then used to generate a pothole map that can then be shared by road users in- tending to use that very road. This invention allows the depth of the pothole to be recorded alongside the GPS coordinates of the pothole. This invention allows improved user experience on our roads especially the bad ones, thereby minimizing accidents arising out of dangerous potholes.
Autonomous Greenhouse Monitoring with real-time remote visualization this innovation, able to monitor the conditions of a greenhouse remotely. Additionally, it enables some action such as aeration, and watering to be taken automatically depending on the prevalent greenhouse conditions (temperature, humidity, moisture levels) in the greenhouse. This in- novation has potential to facilitate more efficient farming in green- house thereby enable more return on investment compared to the conventional greenhouse farming. Wearable Assistive tool for the deaf and blind this innovation will make it possible for someone who is both blind and deaf to avoid collision with fast moving objects from any direction when in a public space.
Wearable framework for monitoring children in outdoor environment this innovation allows a guardian to monitor the safety and health of their child based on their heart rate and body temperature values. When threshold values are exceeded, the parent is notified via their mobile phone. This wearable gadget would enhance monitoring of out of sight children while not preventing them from engaging in safe fun activities.
Wearable framework for monitoring the elderly in indoor environment this innovation allows an elderly person’s health to be monitored on the basis of his movement patterns to the washroom, this temperature, and blood pressure. When threshold values are violated, the caretaker is informed of the emergency.
