Makerere University has announced that it will allowed only science students to physically report back to the university.
While speaking to a national news outlet a few hours ago, Professor Barnabas Nawangwe drafted Makerere’s current plan on continuity of learning.
“Only students studying science disciplines or courses will report to campus come 1st November. Arts students will continue learning online and only report to campus to do exams,” said the professor.
Nawangwe’s remarks have raised serious debate among arts students who feel cheated by the arrangement.
Most universities are prioritizing vaccination with an intention of opening for all students. However Uganda’s premier university is dancing to another tune.
It should be noted that the president of Uganda H.E Yoweri.k. Museveni had given a green light regarding resumption of physical learning come November 1st on condition that learners are vaccinated.
