The private schools owners under their umbrella, Uganda National Association of Private Schools and Institutions(UNAPSI) and other associations, on thursday morning appeared to the paliament in the education commision and appealed to the government to create for them a special package where each private school would get over Ug.Shs100 million which will be paid back in 5 years.
According to the chairman of the Uganda Private Schools Owners Association, Mr Kirabira Hasadu, over ahalf of the private schools in Uganda are yet to be taken over by banks over loans that they have not yet paid.
“…most of our schools are most likely to be taken by banks over loan issues so i appeal to you members to pass that program so that schools are saved from these debts before they are opened up for physical teaching,” Kirabika said.
He also asked the minstry of education to remove examination fee for candidate classes because parents do not have money to pay since they have been in the lockdown.
A number of associations have appealed to the government for help following losses they encountered during the lockdown.
