National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Shamin Nambassa won the hotly contested guild presidential polls at Makerere University.
With the slogan, “vaccinate the junta with wee wee”, the charismatic female contestant won with a margin of over a thousand votes.
She won popularity and support when she promised to dethrone the universities Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe and to phase out the 15% tuition policy.
She was contesting with other ten candidates from different parties. These included; Ayeyo Sam Bukal Silver, Byayesu Agrippa, Kamulegeya Obeid, Mutsinzi Ronald, Omega Victor, Ssewanyana Nelson, and Tuhaise Martin.
She becomes Makerere’s 87th guild president after Ivan Sempijja, who also went through on the NUP party card.
