The Uganda Premier League(UPL) log leaders KCCA FC have dropped two points to the struggling SC Villa today at Njeru FUFA technical center in one all draw in the long awaited derby .
It was a tight game, with few clear opportunities for both sides till the 70th minute when Mato Rodgers broke the deadlock for the Kasasiro boys with a controversial goal that left the Jogos unhappy with the referee’s decision urging that the ball didn’t get in the net but rather side net.
Substitute Benson Muhindo got an equalizer for SC Villa in the 90th minute through a spot kick that was forced by John Revita after fouling the striker in the box.
Molly Byekwaso’s KCCA stay at the top of the table with 27 points as Villa stays 17 points behind the long in the 12th position.
In other games today, Vipers sent Toro United to bottom of the table in a 1-0 win at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende. The venoms got their only goal through the on form Mankozi in the 68th minute thus reducing the gap between them and KCCA FC to four points.
At Philp Omondi Staduim, Police FC finally got their first win of the season after humiliating Busoga United by 3-1. Goals from Arafat Kakonge, Braian Mululi and Juma Balinya have ensured the cops’ first victory after eleven games this season. The visitors scored first through Anwar Ntege in the 17th minute but couldn’t maintain the pressure from the hungry Police players. Now, Police FC have moved one place up ahead of bottom placed Toro United by two points and just one point below Busoga United who have seven in the 14th position. Police’s next test comes next week on Wednesday as they play Vipers.
