“It is unfortunate that due to several events that may have amounted to malpractice, the above elections were canceled. Among the issues that were raised was that of the voters’ register. We would like to complete the process of electing the Guild before examinations.” Prof Waswa Balunywa principal MUBS’s statement read.
Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Principal Prof Waswa Balunywa has came out to announce that the university will be forced to put off their end-of-semester examinations for a couple of days in a bid to repeat the guild elections.
It should be recalled that MUBS’ Electoral Commission was forced to halt the guild elections after a group of students took off with one ballot box before vote counting. This was due to the missing names of same students from the voters register.
Following the challenges caused by missing names in the voters’ register, Balunywa has directed all students to register by Thursday 6th January 2022 ahead of the elections.
“I would therefore wish to urge all those who are not registered to do so by Thursday, January 6. Thereafter, we should be able to confirm the dates when the elections will be held. Because of this, exams will be put off for a few days to enable us to complete the elections.” The statement reads further.
