Following the announcement of the third wave of the Covid19 in Uganda by the Health Ministry on 7th January 2022, the United States embassy in Uganda has suspended all interviews for visas a few hours ago.
Anthony Kujawa, the US Embassy spokesperson in Kampala, Anthony Kujawa told the nation on Friday that visitor visa interviews had been temporarily been suspended to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Kujawa however said that the embassy is still handling emergencies and visas of students and will soon reopen for others when the Covid-19 threat decreases. He also hinted that those who had been affected by the closure were notified of this.
Dr.Jane Ruth Aceng, the Health minister, told the country on 7th this month that the country has been registering at least 37 percent, and a 4.8 percent increase in positive cases and test positivity rate respectively.
Many other international businesses have been halted following the announcement. Dubai stopped all planes from Uganda but later opened up a few days ago.
