Fuel prices in Hoima city raised dust on social media after a picture showing a petrol station selling a liter of petrol at shs.10,000.
According to online reports, the shortage of fuel in Hoima city has forced the closure of some petrol stations and others to sell at extremely higher prices.
Having gone viral on social media, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja promised that fuel prices would be restored to normal soon.
“Government is aware of the public concerns about rising fuel prices but would like to assure the country that we are not in a crisis. The hiccup at the Malaba border was fixed. Prices should stabilize. Fuel dealers should not use this excuse to hike prices,” she said.
In Kampala and some other areas, fuel prices are between the range of shs.4700 to 6000. This situation has led to an increase in transport fees despite the reopening of public transport to full capacity.
