The management of Mount Masaba high school has made 20years of giving bursaries to secondary, tertiary institutions, and University students. While at the function that took place on Friday 21st of January 2022, the school gave donated three million one hundred fifty thousand shillings as tuition to four students of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) who went through Mount Masaba high school.
The students who received the tuition support of three million one hundred fifty thousand shillings include Bakari Farida Ali offering Bachelors of law first year, Sharmila Nabuuzare Bachelors of Arts education also in the first year, Nandudu Hadijja and Nandudu Rukia both offering Bachelors of education third year.
Dr. sowed Masaba the director of mountain masaba high school says that due to the effect of covid 19 many students and their parents are struggling to pay school fees and tuition for their children and upon this, they had to come in as a school to support the parents in paying the school dues.
“Right from the start, we have been supporting these students right when they were still students with us here and we shall still support them. So today we are handing over a cheque of money for tuition. We have been giving finical support to students who are bright and finically weak not because we have a lot but just we need to return to the community,”. Dr. sowed the director Masaba said.
Dr. Sowed adds and thanks the government for allowing the private schools to operate in the country and for the support the government has given to them by providing them with the new curriculum”. He said.
The headteacher of mount masaba Mr. Adam Mumeya says they have been doing this for students who perform well and those that would like to join S.1, S.5, and university. He also thanked God since they opened on the tenth, he called upon the parents to try their best to bring their children to the hostel to get the best since they missed a lot during the lockdown.
Speaking to the students who received the money for tuition support, Nambozo Hadijja a third-year student at IUIU offering a bachelor’s in education says her education was stack not until came in to support her from S.5 up to university where she is now. She added and urged her fellow students to work hard and not lose hope, Nandudu Rukia also a student at IUIU in her third year says mount Masaba started supporting her in 2015 up to now. She revealed her joy by thanking the mount masaba community for the support for her studies. Sharmila Nabuuzare says it was very hard to join IUIU until mount masaba came in to support her.
