A Muslim-based organization called One Ummah Uganda has extended a helping hand to the needy and vulnerable during the 2022 Zakah distribution.
The organization gave out Shs.500,000= as start-up capital for those that had business ideas and promised to continue fueling the charitable spirit to change the lives of people in Uganda.
This was done at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council headquarters at Gaddafi Mosque.
During the distribution, the organization’s public relations officer Shania Kigozi said that it was done to show Muslims how helpful Zakah could be and lure them into paying it.
“Well, we do this twice or thrice a year and today we are targeting about 450 to 500 people. Zakah is a must payment to every Muslim and so we encourage them to give it out. As One Ummah, we distribute it and give advice to people on how to save a d use their money wisely…,” she said.
The organization has had an instrumental role in changing the well-being of several people in Uganda through charity.
It traces its root from the United Kingdom, where its members give out Zakah to benefit the people in Uganda and other parts of the world.
