The Jinja high court yesterday legally confirmed that His loyal Highness Gabula Nadiope IV is the rightly elected king of Busoga Region.
According to justice Jeanne Rwakakooko the Judge of Jinja high court ruling indicts that only seven chiefs participated in the election of Wambuzi which is against the Busoga Constitution which warrants a quorum of Eight royal chiefs out of 11 which made Wambuzi election null and void.
In continuity of her ruling, Rwakakooko stated that Gabula was elected in 2014 in the presence of 10 royal chiefs making him legally recognized as the king of Busoga since the quorum was attained.
However according to Wambuzi claims that, the same royal chiefs who elected Gabula as King of Busoga in 2014 had elected him earlier on in 2008.
Daniel lubogo the lawyer of Wambuzi expressed his dissatisfaction saying that the judge was not justice in her ruling.
“The court did not expedite all the remedies prayed for in the petition and we are going to hold the consultations with our members before we resolve our next action,” Lawyer Daniel Said.
Alex Luganda the lawyer of Gabula urged Busoga people to unite and develop the region together since the court has ruled who the king is.
“It is high time as Busoga people we leave conflicts and we aim at developing the region since the right king has been confirmed,” Alex advised.
Busoga region has been in the conflict since 2014 when Gabula was put on the throne as the King of Busoga while facing resistance from Wambuzi claiming to be the right king of Busoga. Busoga is comprised of 11chiefdom.
