IUIU Awards Best Student Performers
The Islamic University in Uganda(IUIU) awarded best performing students today in a colourful ceremony that took place in Mbale at its main Campus. The awards were given to students in second and third year with first class and second class upper grades.
This was specifically for students under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences ( FASS) and it took place in the University Boardroom at the main campus.
Among the speakers included the Dean of FASS, Mr Ssekannyo Issa who congratulated the students upon their fruitful grades and also advised them to keep on working hard so as to maintain their grades or even work more harder.
In his speech, the Dean also showed his gratitude towards the Faculty Committee together with the University administration for having made it possible for the event to happen. He said that it was a combined effort by both the Faculty and the University administration for the event to take place and that the faculty has for a long time been suggesting for such an event to take place.
The event was also graced by the presence of the Academic Registrar, Dr Halima Wakabi Akbar who also started by congratulating the students upon the milestone they have reached on behalf of both herself and the Vice Rector Academic Affairs, Dr Jamil Sserwanga who was supposed to be the Chief Guest but was not able to attend the event because he was away for other official duties and therefore asked her ( Dr Halima) to represent him.
Dr Halima also thanked the Dean FASS, members of FASS especially the standing committee for cooperating with the University administration to make the event happen . She went on and appreciated the parents and guardians of the students and promised to involve them in the next event of such kind. “I would also like to appreciate your parents and guardians who have made it possible for you to attend university education, next time we shall share a zoom link so that they also attend the function.” She said.
The Academic Registrar reminded the students that their being at university is a blessing that the Almighty has bestowed upon them because only 0.01 percent of the world population get chance to attain education according to research.
In her closing remarks, Dr Halima thanked the students for choosing IUIU, advised them to work harder and to have good character . ” I thank you for choosing IUIU, IUIU is because you are and you are because IUIU is. Always remember papers will take you to a certain place but character will make you stay”. She remarked.
