Today Express FC are hosting their long time rivals KCCA FC at Mutesa II stadium Wankulukuku at in a game that started at 4:00PM.
The derby has been made up of 60 goals in 26 meetings with the hosts scoring 24 while the visitors scoring 36. In addition, the 26 meetings have come with 12 draws, KCCA FC winning ten compared to Express’ four.
The Kasasiro boys are second on the log with four points behind the leaders Vipers and are aware of what the impact today’s results may generate. However, the red Eagles are in the sixth place and 10 points behind their today’s opponents and are looking forward to slow down KCCA’S hopes of winning this season’s league tittle.
The first leg derby at Omondi Stadium ended in a goalless draw.
KCCA FC came into this game after a shocking exit from the Uganda Cup losing to Solitilo Bright Stars by a goal to nil.
Express FC have failed to get any win in their last four games and thus looking forward to getting back to winning ways in today’s derby.
Express’interim head coach James Odoch showed his readiness for this derby after a bad result in their last game.
“We’re done with our last training ahead of our game against KCCA FC on Thursday, we’ve used this period to correct our mistakes which we had in our last game away against Busoga United FC. KCCA FC are comfortable on the ball so we’ve worked more on the pressing because KCCA FC are good with the ball so i believe we’re ready to get maximum points,” Odach revealed before the start of the game.
The good news for the red Eagles is that their captain Enock Walusimbi is back after traveling with the Fundi team from Spain. However, Ivan Mayanja will miss the derby after suffering from a cut on his heel.
For KCAA FC, their manager Moley Byekwaso believes that his side needs all the three points compared to their rivals.
“We need to go there and play with confidence and show we want it more than them. That is how you win such games. We have prepared every player to be ready for the task at hand. We need to have the mental toughness and focus on the game. We shall have Iguma and Anaku back for the derby. For Kaddu’s case, we will continue to assess him and we are hopeful that he will most likely make the final squad for the game,” Byekwaso explained.
KCCA’s Dennis Iguma, Patrick Kaddu and Sadat Anaku are also back to the squad, however Ashraf Mugume’s presence is still in doubt after picking a knock in the game against Bright Stars. Brian Majwega and Yassar Mugerwa are also ruled out.
