Youth group called We Are Youths(WAY) held it’s first annual Wesibadde Day yesterday, which was meant to celebrate the life of the late Wesibadde Safina, a former student at the Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU).
These named the day after Safina’s sir name following the efforts she took to survive till she responded to nature. The group took to it’s handles to celebrate the heroin.
“It’s a year now ever since we lost our very own. This young woman had just graduated from IUIU before she lost her life after years of struggling and surviving with sickle cells. Wesibadde Safina is special because she put her sicknesses to the dock and decided…,” they posted.
The event took place at Swat Grounds in Makindye and a large number of youths celebrated the fallen Wesibadde.
The group further posted and said it was there duty to keep her fight fresh against sickle cells. These narrated how the late sensitized the youth about the disease.
“To sensitize young people about sickle cells. Before death she had started an organisation called sickle cell warriors as an avenue to even advocate more. Getting injections and tablets on her way to schools didn’t stop her dream she only insisted with brief,” they commented on their post.
“Statements like “I will win this fight” . Her fear was that people don’t have information about sickle cells. Our organisation decided to keep her candle burning by commemorating her and keeping sickle cells advocacy moving. We thank God for Safina’s life,’ the group added.
These shared the pictures which they had taken with her while she was still in the struggle.
