St. Joseph’s Ombaci Sends Over 1000 Students Home As It Closes Over Strike
St Joseph’s Ombaci, a boy’s boarding middle and highschool located in Arua District has been closed following a student strike that took place yesterday.
The Strike broke out after the death of one of the students identified as Azizi Adinan, a 21 year old senior four student.
Adinan died following an argument that broke out after scoreless draw football match between St Joseph’s Ombaci and Joseph Ayume Memorial College in Koboko Municipality.
During the argument, Adinan was beaten and left with stab wounds by fellow students. He was afterwards sneaked back into the school by fellow students but later died from a clinic after his situation worsened.
The students later on blamed the administration for death of their colleague and this sparked off a protest by the students.
The school administration summoned the students and gave them 15 minutes to leave the school premises under police escort and this left over 1000 students being sent home.
Dates for reopening have however not yet been announced.
