Yesterday 16th March 2022, Liverpool showcased a thunderous display to beat Arsenal in a 0-2 victory.
The first half was dominated the north London club with the likes of Matnelli and Thomas Parte shining for the guns. These held the ball in confidence and managed to drive the ball forward but Liverpool’s backline led by Virgil van Dijk was solid enough to hold on till the end of the half.
As much as first half belonged to Arsenal, the second haft went to Liverpool. Runs from Mane, Diaz and Thiago Alcantara made the Arsenal backyard lose confidence and in the long run gave way to Diego Jota’s first brace in the 54th minute.
Having weakened the gunners’ defence, Jurgen Klopp added Firmino and Mohammed Salah to cause further damage. In the 62nd minute, Firmino rose to a trick that made it 0-2, as Arsenal looked on like a seller of eggs whose trays had all loosened.
The reds have increased pressure on Manchester City who are sitting on top of the table with 70 points, one point from Liverpool.
In other matches, Villarreal eliminated Juventus on a 0-3 win as Chelsea buttered Lille 2-1 to proceed to the next round of the Champions League.
