Lubega Abdu-noor of the tropical heat cycling academy has emerged the champion of the cycling race of the 60 million tree planting race that was set off at Mbale SS play ground in Mbale city. The race was of over 90kms, from Mbale SS play grounds to Tirinyi and back to Mbale city.
The cycling race was organized by the UMOJA conservation in partnership with National Forest Authority, Mt. Elgon Tree Growing Enterprise and many other partners. The campaign is focused at seeing the Elgon region free from landslides. The race was flagged off by the Mbale City RCC Ahmada Washaki.
Lubega won a gold medal and a trophy, followed by Kato Willy who won a silver medal as the second and Mugalu Suafeeq in the third position winning a bronze.
Lubega says this was all about hard work and being determined. He adds to say that the game has made many friends for him since it is friendly game. It also keeps him healthy during training.
“I don’t regret being a racer, this is a very friendly game, it has helped me have a lot of friends and even move to defeat places in the country.” He joyfully said.
This was not the only race but there other races like for the female and there was only one lady that raced for 50kms as there was no one to compete with her.
Nakato Kevin the only lady that raced was also from Tropical head cycling academy who won a gold medal and a trophy.
Speaking to Ms. Nabulga Hildah the manger Tropical heat cycling Academy says the club is still developing and they still need more players to join them. She adds to say so far they have determined that love the game with the passion.
She also adds to say they are kept on the training activities to make them fit for the companions and for her as the manager works hard to see that the players do the needful for their success.
“We work as a team since our game needs a lot of team work. These players need a lot of mortaring to make sure that they don’t loss hope in the game. As the manger I have to make sure that I know what they do and advise them on what to do and even what to eat since it is not good for them to eat whatever they find” Manger Nabulya said.
While asked about the female players she has on the club she that the game is not only for the men.
“This game is not only for the men, I coming with one female player these not mean she is the only one we have as a club, we have over 10 female players”. She revealed.
