Nine times Africa Cup of Nations winners Egypt and West African giant Nigeria were beaten by Senegal and Ghana to shatter their hopes of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Super Eagles were tied to a 1-1 draw against Ghana and could not qualify on aggregate. The Egyptians were thrown out after Salah blew their hopes with a failed penalty in penalty shootouts.
Nigeria and Egypt join Mali, Algeria, and DRC, on the list of ten teams that failed to qualify. The five teams that qualified for the prestigious competition are; Senegal, Ghana, Morocco, Tunisia, and Cameroon.
The 2022 World Cup will take place in Qatar. It will kick off on Monday, November 21 at the Al Bayt stadium in Al Khor with a match that will feature the host country.
