The Chief Justice of Uganda Alphonse Owiny Dollo has vowed to champion the education of the children of the fallen Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanya.
Speaking at Oulanya’s state funeral at Kololo Independence Grounds yesterday, Dollo promised that Oulanya’s children will not suffer and will continue studying, to their highest levels.
“Our vow we who Jacob oulanya meant everything, is that his children will continue with their education where they are. They will continue to the end of their highest level of education. We will pay back through his children…,” he said.
He further revealed that there is a Fund put up to handle the education of Oulanya’s children and urged all well-wishers to contribute to the fund.
“…we set up a foundation, Jacob Oulanya Education Trust Fund to ensure it is not the end of his children…, Let us pull our resources together. That is when we will prove what we say about Jacob Oulanya. It’s my role that Oulanya’s children will not suffer,” he said.
The current speaker Anita Among revealed that in the special Parliamentary session that was held last Tuesday, a resolution was past, to raise 554 million shillings for the Fund.
Reports indicate that besides his children, there are over 100 other children whose school fees were being paid by the fallen Speaker.
