President Museveni has revealed that if he had learned of the late Jacob Oulanya’s health status earlier, he would have stopped him from running for Speakership because it is a risky position.
In his tribute speech at the statehouse today, he said he learned of Oulanya’s health status when he went to Dubai for treatment last year.
“I first knew about the problem when he went to Dubai for treatment…, if I had known earlier, I would have told him to concentrate on health,” he said.
He revealed that he once stopped a minister from running for Speakership because his health was not good and the position was so dangerous.
“When there was competition for the speakership, one minister contacted me. He wanted to compete but I happened to know about his health issues. I told him not to go for the post. I said I do not want him to die because the Speakership is a dangerous position…,” he said.
He urged all Africans to focus on health than politics because Africa still needs them. The speaker will be buried on 8th April.
