Ssekiwunga Hasifu was this morning addressing with a motivational speech to the students of Mass communication (Year 2) at Islamic university in Uganda (Kampala Campus). Hasifu who is a former student of this University told the students that mass communication as a course is wide with different opportunities that can help them to succeed in future.
“The course gives a lot of yields like graphics, media ethicists, production, editorial work, camera work among others”. He said.
He added that when he was still at university, he was hated by his fellow colleagues because he always asked questions in class but that didn’t stop him from doing so because he was focused on his ambition.
After Hasifu’s graduation, he started an online radio called the status radio. This is where he was called and admitted to DH TV but because his dreams were more than where he was, he kept on hard working which paved way for him to be employed on STV, and with in a short time, BBS TV employed and that’s where is still working.
“It’s hard work, co-operation, being social, determination, loving the work which yields something and let your bosses depend on you but not you to depend on them”. Ssekiwunga remarked.
He also informed the students that he was one of the team that initiated the University online news paper and television called the Lens media which helped him to focus, gain experience and to improve on his writing skills.
He concluded by saying that journalism is the best professional that keep people updated, promotes Justice and creates enjoyment to those that love it.
“So love the course, be verssatile such that if you are employed, you can play the work of five employees. In this profession, any mistake done just denies justice but doesn’t harm people like others professions such as law where mistakes causes jail, a doctor whose mistake calls for life. It’s a fair job”. Ssekiwunga Hasifu concluded.
