The Government of Uganda through the office of the Prime Minister Robina Nabbanja has denounced the decision which was taken by Parliament yesterday to conceal the Nyege Nyege event.
Yesterday, Tororo Woman Member of Parliament Sarah Opendi raised a matter of National importance and she that the event will promote immorality which forced the speaker of parliament Right Hon. Anita Among to pass a directive of cancelling the Event.
Speaking to journalist today, Rt. Hon Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja says Nyege Nyege event will take place, however with guidelines to follow which will be drafted by the Ministry of Ethics and Integrity.
‘’A number of resolutions have been reached, one is to harmonize with the arm of parliament to see that the event take place successfully, we have tasked the Ministry of Ethics and Integrity and that of National guidance to come with guidelines which will be followed,’’ She said.
She adds that, the event attracts a number of tourists and many people had already booked tickets.
‘’ The event will take place, because the time, we had given very short time others are already in the country and the event attracts thousands and thousands of tourists,’’ prime minister revealed.
The Nyege Nyege music festival is a three-day festival expected to kick off on 15th -18th September 2022 in Itanda falls in Jinja City, where over 8,000 tourists and foreigners are hoping to attend and locals from Uganda.
