Kenyan Politicians Clap Back At Gen. Muhoozi’s “Nairobi Capture” Tweets
Various Kenyan politicians and other opinion leaders bitterly responded to Lt.Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba on 4th October 2022 through their twitter handles following the statements he made, on capturing Kenyan capital city Nairobi via the same social media platform.
Nandi county Senator Kiprotich Arap Cherargei in Kenya asked the Ministry of foreign affairs to intervene or take action as far as Muhoozi’s alleged threats were concerned and expected them to respond the following day through a statement or report.
“I expect by morning the ministry of foreign affairs to summon Ugandan ambassador to shed light on Gen. Muhoozi’s social media outbursts and a subsequent apology. This is undermining the spirit of unity of EAC,” said Cherargei.
On seeing the threats, some politicians paused attacking statements in exchange for the General’s words for example, Somali Politician and former Somali ambassador to Kenya Alinur Muhammad assured the public on twitter that he can buy Muhoozi’s army, maintain and pay them for 10 years.
According to former Forum for Democratic Change(FDC) president Dr. Kizza Besigye, history attempted to repay itself since this was the second time a Ugandan military general threatened to seek control over a Kenyan territory where by 46 years ago former Uganda president Idi Amin uttered similar statements and that’s why Kenyans couldn’t take it lightly this time.
He also said that president Jomo Kenyatta and his Vice President Arap Moi worked hard to get a solution for Amin’s threats since he used to equip his army with Russian Jet fighters, such are the reasons why Ugandans are kidnapped and tortured publicly with exempting those who do the harm.
“Parliament, expectedly, can only lament, Gen Muhoozi is clearly above the military and State laws, that’s why,” kizza added.
However, through a dispatch issued on 4th October 2022, the ministry of foreign affairs in Uganda stayed neutral by not siding with either sides of the controversy. It stated that Uganda’s government doesn’t conduct its foreign policy and other official businesses nor does it depend on social media sources while dealing with fellow Sovereign states.
“Government of Uganda, therefore, wishes to reiterate its cordial relationship with the Republic of Kenya and assure the people and the government of the Republic of Kenya of our harmonious relationship that we value,” the ministry added.
This left some citizens of Uganda disappointed and so negative about Muhoozi according to the responses or comments below the many controversial political statements by the political personnel victims of the whole situation.
