Ugandans on the internet have been left in surprise after a teaser of the upcoming Ugandan movie “Nambi” directed by Peter Mukiibi hit social media.
The teaser shows a high-quality production equivalent to that of Hollywood with a location that was similarly built by high-tech software, that could hardly be afforded by Ugandans.
“Nambi” is an adaptation from the original Ugandan folk tale of Kintu, and tells the popular story with a different approach; one that introduces the character of Nambi to the minds and hearts of the audiences in a new and compelling way.
Against the advice of her dear father Ggulu (Michael Musoke) – Nambi (Doreen Nabbanja) the only daughter of the heavenly realm, decides to descend from the comforts of her royal heritage and idyllic home to start a life with caveman Kintu. Ignorant of the growing dissent in the heavenly realm and the weight of her decision, Nambi naively charts her new path. However, her decision soon tips the scale on the delicate balance of existence of her world, which sets off a chain of events that ultimately leads to the collision of the heavenly and earthly realms in a final battle for supremacy over the world.
Usama Mukwaya, the producer of the movie told The Lens Media that the movie is still in production but will be released in 2023. He hopes to capture the hearts of many Ugandans with it.
“The movie is still being worked on and will be released in 2023. It’s a typical Ugandan story and I know many Ugandans will like it,” he said.
