A total of 130 youths in Kakooge Sub County, Nakasongola district have been awarded with a modular certificates in different vocational skills.
This was after undergoing assessment by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT), a body responsible for promoting employable skills.
The State Minister for Primary Education Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu who represented at the function by Noah Mutebi Wanzala commended DIT for reaching out to the young people to benefit from government programs.
The DIT Brand Ambassador Rogers Mulindwa who also doubled as the project coordinator said 170 registered for assessment but the 40 either missed out on the final day, failed the exams or still had pending issues with their bio data and couldn’t have their certificates ready.
The areas of assessment included hair dressing, motor vehicle mechanic, plumbing, Domestic Electricians, coffee farming, welding, brick laying, carpentry and cookery among others.
Mulindwa said this was his third class to be passed out after Entebbe Municipality (275) and Ndejje Division (340). He further revealed that 50 of their pioneer class in Entebbe are soon starting to work with SECO Engineering company in areas of fabrication, grinding and joinery.
Mulindwa was named DIT Brand Ambassador in 2021 on a one year contract.
